Favour Obasi-ike, MBA, MS breaks down the semantic web SEO concept of "page indexing," explaining that it is simply the process by which search engines discover, crawl, and store your web pages in their database. Using a library analogy, he explains that just as a library must log a newly purchased book before patrons can find it on the shelf, Google must index your pages before users can discover them in search results. Favour emphasizes that high-quality content is practically invisible if it hasn't been properly indexed. He also walks the audience through the technical steps of verifying a domain via Google Search Console and stresses the importance of owning your hosting and DNS records. Who is this for? This content is tailored for business owners, content creators, podcasters, and website managers who want to understand fundamental SEO concepts to increase their online visibility and website traffic. Key Moments Segment 1: Introduction to page indexing and how it builds long-term business visibility. Segment 2: Step-by-step technical guide to setting up Google Search Console and submitting sitemaps. Segment 3: Understanding how accidental "no-index tags" can hide your website from the internet. Segment 4: How third-party platforms (like Apple Podcasts and Spotify) generate indexed links that boost your search presence. Segment 5: The "Library Analogy" explaining why indexing is simply digital storage. Segment 6: The importance of controlling your Domain Name Server (DNS) and hosting platforms. FAQs What is page indexing? It is the process where search engines discover, crawl, and store web pages into their database, making them searchable and eligible to appear in search results. Ultimately, indexing simply means "storage on the web". Why isn't my website showing up on Google? Your site might not be indexed. This can happen if you haven't submitted your sitemap to Google Search Console, or if your site has default "no-index tags" that actively tell Google to ignore your pages. Does podcasting help with indexing? Yes. When you publish a podcast episode to platforms like Apple, Spotify, or Amazon, each of those platforms creates a link that gets indexed by Google, multiplying your online footprint. What is a DNS and why does it matter? DNS stands for Domain Name System or Server. It connects your domain to your hosting platform. You must have access to your DNS records to verify your site ownership with Google and ensure you maintain full operational control over your business's online presence. Action Steps Recommended by Favour Obasi-ike Check your site status: Use a tool like nslookup.io to research your website's domain records. Set up Google Search Console: Go to Google Search Console and add your domain property. Verify your domain: Copy the provided TXT record and add it to your DNS records within your hosting platform to prove you own the site. Submit your sitemap: Once verified, submit your sitemap (e.g., yourwebsite.com/sitemap.xml) to Google Search Console to prompt Google to scan your pages. Audit your hosting setup: Ensure you have direct, personal access to your own domain name server and hosting plan to avoid losing control of your intellectual property. Ready to Rank? Introduction to Page Indexing
0:00page indexing what does this seo term mean this is going to be a very interesting room i actually wanted to wait till this time to give you all the sauce welcome paulo thank you for being here it's good to see you and thank you for being here to me we're going to talk about some great stuff today and it's all about
Understanding Page Indexing
0:33page indexing and page indexing is one of those topics i love to talk about and now more extensively i want to bring to your attention so you can create more content for yourself and build more attractions for your online visibility so when you're thinking about page indexing your goal is to grow is to understand the value of what you're creating and then create pages that are going to
1:04actually help you index and also get higher control and higher authority so what does this mean for you as a business owner it means that if you think about page indexing and you create content for yourself then you're going to create content that's going to allow search engines and search bots to approve your content and also put your content on the web so if you search on google and you can do your research on this you will get to see what page indexing is so i'll just give you a quick summary so
1:34page indexing is the process by which search engines discover right search engines specifically
How Search Engines Work
1:44discover they crawl and they store web pages in a database so that they can make them searchable and eligible to appear in the search results so imagine if the goal is to discover is to crawl and is to store then that means you have pages that are going to be allowing more visibility for you to not get more traffic so if you think about your business you think about creating content for long-term visibility then your goal is to think about how can you create stronger signals and stronger trust
2:19signals for your business to now get on the search bots so if you think about google you think about microsoft you think about yandex yahoo the list is endless you start creating content for those reasons eventually you'll be like oh yeah i definitely need to create this for more visibility so if you think about this for your business and what this means for seo for yourself the goal is even if you have great quality content you cannot be able to get on the search engines if your pages are not indexed
2:53correctly so these are the reasons why you want to have these types of situations that can actually get you towards higher indexing values so these are things that we're going to talk about and just bridge in today so that you can actually have more information for tomorrow so if you have a website this is one thing i want you to do go to your website and you can search i believe it's nslookup.io that's a website you can check and you can put up your website there and then you'll see
3:26i mean you already know this if you have the website but if you don't you can use that as a way to also learn what you can also do to long term so i'm going to give you guys the sauce so go to google
Setting Up Google Search Console
3:40search console go to google.com first and then go to google search console from there you now get to add your domain copy your txt record add it to your dns record and then when you add that under the value and you submit it and you verify now you have access to google the next thing is you submit your index website by going to your sitemap and submitting your sitemap to google search console when you do that it's going to be your website.com or any domain that you have dot anything that you have
4:13after that slash sitemap.xml some websites have sitemaps some don't so we'll have to look at that and see which ones do which ones don't but if you do then you can submit your sitemap and don't just submit one if you have page sitemaps post sitemaps author sitemaps category sitemaps you can start creating those sitemaps too welcome jasmine so you can start creating sitemaps to create more value and more extensions for your business so if you think about that you want to create that for your business
4:44and you also want to create that long term to make sure that we can understand these things and do them at a large capacity because page indexing and i'm sure jasmine if you have any questions please put in the chat and let me know and i'll definitely respond to it and thank you bobby for being here to welcome to marketing club so we want to index pages and indexing right is simply a way of saying that a process was completed
5:22right because if you're indexing right what really what indexing is is a process that search engines like google microsoft yahoo yandex all these search engines they scan they analyze and they store they scan they analyze and they store they you can say they discover they crawl and they store but at the end of the day the goal is for them to score goals for your website to gain more traffic by storing
5:57more information in their database so if you want your database to be strong then your goal is to have more pages that are indexed within google so when you start thinking about your content welcome back paulo welcome at chuma when you have content on your website your website hasn't been indexed all the way you know why because sometimes when you have a website and you have specifically
6:28no index tags which can happen welcome daniel and sing here you can have no index tags and those no index tags mean that you have told google not to index your pages and that can happen by default you may not know that's happening but that's a possibility so this seo term called page indexing means that if let's say you have 10 pages on your website i want to make this very simple if you have 10 pages
6:59on your website you have an about page let's start off with the home page about page contact page gallery page privacy policy page you have a post page you have a post page you have a service page you have a team page you have pages that are going to help you an event page now all these pages are all going to be indexed which means that google is going to take storage of those pages now when google takes storage
7:32of those pages those pages now become resourceful to google's internet service provider which is google.com i hope this is making sense welcome michael and keda when you create content on your website and you submit it to google when it's indexed and it says your url is now on google it means that google has your property from your website to their property so what you're technically doing and i hope this makes sense when you have google search console what you're doing is you're simply
8:06telling google.com that i have a website that i want to feature on google.com you know how you want to feature on a magazine you want to feature on a different page that's the same way you feature
Creating Content for Page Indexing
8:17on google.com so for you to feature on google.com then you have to create content for google to index back into your database that's going to act as a service or a contextual base for people to connect back to you welcome donzel and oscar so you create content on your page that's going to allow people to connect back to you so think about page indexing as a way of storing information to search engines or for search engines right i'm not going to go too technical because i'll probably do this in another room
8:51but i wanted to just break this down so that you understand what this means because when you understand what page indexing means it's going to be easy for you to understand what it's doing for you all these platforms let's say you have a podcast right because i have a podcast myself so i'll give you real-time examples i have a podcast called we don't play so if i go to listen notes.com for example and that's uh with two n's listen notes.com and you go to the website which is technically like this
9:25search google search for podcast so if you're looking for a topic you're going to find the most relevant topics there welcome michelle you'll find the most relevant topics welcome united what's up timmy thanks for being here when you search for topics that you have on your website it's going to match up right because you have pages on your site that's going to allow people to see it so now let's say you have a podcast right and i'll give you an example like from what i do i have a podcast and
9:57that means if i want to let's say i want to publish an episode i'll publish the episode but the episode is not going by itself it's not published by itself it's published with a page and what's the page the page is this website so every time you publish a podcast you have a new page on let's say let's say you publish to apple spotify and amazon right of course there are very there are more that you can
10:30submit to and i can share with you how you can do that when you submit to those three that means for every link you've created let's say apple has a link right because you have a podcast episode spotify has a link because you have an episode and amazon has a link because you have an episode those are three links and then on those three links you have your website which is four links now you have four links coming from the same source or going to the same source now because you're
11:04thinking about page indexing don't only think page indexing is applicable to you it's also applicable to your platforms that you're submitting to if you're submitted on google that means google has a copy of your web page if you're submitted to apple podcast that means apple podcast has a copy of your web page so if you have an article on your website then that article has a link and that link is on google the same thing applies to your podcast if you have a podcast and you're on amazon then that amazon link is
11:37going to be on google so amazon is already connected to google apple podcast is connected to google spotify is connected to google so if you're looking for a spotify podcast or a podcast on spotify then you find that on google that's because spotify has been indexed on google so the indexing is not just for you it's for every other website but if you're connected to those web pages then you can also be
12:07indexed through those web servers so the goal is not just to be for yourself because you're not doing business for yourself you're doing business for your family for your friends for people that you love for people that you care about you want to make life better for them business is about solutions it's not about problems yes problems start businesses but the solutions is what creates the businesses and what makes them successful so you create more content for people to find them and then all of a sudden you're like whoa i can actually create more content i can create more results i can create more
12:38solutions and then more people come right i've been in this room for a couple of minutes and it's been myself but i didn't stop because i'm like okay i'm not going to be here just talking to myself i'm sure someone's going to listen to this at some point so for me i'm looking at the context because i'm not looking for volume i'm looking for quality and that's what these other search engines are looking for so if you submit your podcast to different platforms you're not only looking at your episode from the roots you're looking at it from the directory you're looking at it from the results
13:09so if you're on apple spotify you're on iheart you're pandora those are links and those links are also indexed on google so page indexing is not just on your site yes it's going to tell you what's going on with your page because you have to connect it to google search console to bing web masters those are the platforms that you have to submit to they're free these are free platforms so you don't have to pay for them you can do them right now if you've never done them before try it out
13:40if you want to do it with me we'll do it together but at the end of the day those pages are going to be on google if you've ever found or clicked anything that you've ever seen on google or any other search engine just know that that page was indexed that's how you're going to know that that page was indexed because if you can click on a result you go to google and you're looking for movie tickets for michael jackson's movie and you click on an amc or you click on a studio movie grill you click somewhere yeah you definitely definitely for sure 100 see a page that was indexed because
14:19you're going to watch it at a movie theater and you're going to book your tickets to watch the movie from a website so indexing is like a library you go to a library and you get indexed if you want to read history non-fiction science sports food whatever it is you're going to find it there so the goal is to create that you're welcome michelle the goal is to create those things and build it so that your pages can be found you can have the best content and not be available to the market and people will
14:54not know you know how they say that best known is better than best overall because if you're the best known then everyone's going to know about you even though there was someone better than you because you know this person you're going to be going for this person even the other if the other person was way better than this person that you know you would trust the person you know first before you trust a person that could be better than that person you know so if that makes sense then you have to think
15:26about what google regards as best so if you think about your seo your business today your goals for tomorrow then your goal for today should be how can you index your pages to google so that you can be on search engines that people can find you what does this seo term mean it means that you can create content on social media and indirectly end up on search engines you know people mostly start off
16:03with social media and end up on search engines i started with search engines and end up on social media why because search engines are underrated and they are unsaturated social media is overrated and saturated do your research you will see it countless times when have you gone to google search looking for something and you find a result from 2024 2018 2022 welcome denny you will see those things and you
16:35see those results and you'll still click on them you'll still go to those pages because those pages are active you trust them you know these pages have been there for years if you have a friend you've known that you've trusted for years you'll trust that person over someone else that you've never seen before welcome dr o mimi sabomia carol good to see you as well txjh robert nakia thank you for being here so your goal as a business is to ask yourself how do i index my pages indexing comes from mapping
Importance of Domain Name Server
17:11right because your pages index is because it's within a map have you ever used google maps apple maps waze maps i use waze so if you're going to use an apple map or google map or waze map right you're going to look for results to use that map if you want to drive somewhere right so if you're going to drive somewhere then you're going to drive somewhere with the intention of getting to the destination successfully i would say at 100 rate so if you're going to do that then you have to
17:49use a map to get to that location so it's the same thing with your website if you have a page and your page is your website.com slash something dash template let's say you want to create an email marketing template so it's email dash marketing dash template and let's say this template is for beginners dash beginners right you know that this any beginner that finds this template is going to be eligible to re-download resubmit or even just be a part of the community because for the simple fact
18:23that you've attracted this person who is looking for this context has found you as a resource is now making that person trust you because you have something to offer that offering allows someone to say hmm is this something i want to do or is something i don't want to do do i have to pray about this if i do what do i get is it good is it good for me is it good for my business so we ask these questions because we don't know so if you think about your long-term business goals then page
18:54indexing is going to be one of them 100 if you're going to think about page indexing that means that you want your pages to be stored on google so if there's nothing that you don't get from this room today from this conversation get this page indexing is about storing information on the web that's as simple as i can say it welcome coach z page indexing is so important because once you have storage on the web then people can find you consistently people can find your pages consistently
19:30imagine if you have articles on your website they're going so well they're doing so well but google has no idea that you have pages on google or you have pages on your website to begin with because you don't have that connected why when you have yourself or your website on google search console it means that you have connected your website to the dns record right what is a dns dns stands for domain name server or domain name system what does that even mean domain is your url right your url is
20:07your uniform resource locator right that's a url so what is your url oh my url is www.fillintheblank right or my domain is this.com or this.org or this.edu or this.you know fill in the blank so that is your domain right so your domain name server is coming from a hosting platform so wherever you bought your domain from it could be godaddy it could be hostinger it could be siteground it could be name cheap it
20:38could be anything there are many out there so when you have your domain you purchase your domain your domain is now on a hosting server now that hosting server is going to have your dns record and sometimes some people i've seen this happen a couple of times even with clients that they would have access to their domain but they don't have access to their name server because the name server is being i would say being stored or being what's another word i could use it's being let me just keep the word
21:14stored just to keep it simple it's being stored on another server so it's like you have access to your name but because you have access to your name somebody else has access to your how your name operates online if that makes sense because even if you have access to your name if your name is not operating then you don't have an operating business or an operating name so that's where everything changes so it's good to have access to your name server and also your other records because if you don't have access to your name server records that means you don't have access to that any type of control
21:48so for you to even be indexed on google you have you have to have access to your hosting your hosting is so important because yeah you can be indexed on google but your indexing is also determined by your hosting plan your indexing is determined by your hosting plan so if you have wix wordpress squarespace shopify that's great because all these platforms are going to be highly i can say indexed but the only indexing factor is going to be based on how you're able to
22:22structure it so if you have a website and i'll be able to tell what website you have by just me doing an audit on your site i'll be able to tell because i can do some research and i'll be like okay it's on this server it's on this platform it's on this cms tool and the cms stands for content management system that's your wix that's your wordpress that's your squarespace that's your shopify that's your doodah that's your tilde that's your magento there are different platforms that you can use and build websites on so all this to say is that if you want your pages to be indexed on google
22:57you need to have access to your hosting plan your domain which you should have access to it then when you have access to it you can now add this txt record right this txt record will be coming from google google say hey here's your record it's like going to the dmv and getting a driver's license everybody has the same card but everybody has a different print so it's the same thing when you have a domain everybody has a domain but everybody has a completely different unique
23:27identification code so that code is what you're going to use as a translation to say hey i own this website and i have validated it i've authenticated it because it is mine i'm the owner so that's what we do with you with as a client as any business as any customer as any person that actually needs to understand this information you can do it that way so you just go to your website and you set it up that way because i will not own your website i don't do that because owning your website means i own
23:58your property and that's a violation of intellectual property right so you want to make sure that it's ethical it's compliant right you're not doing things that are shady you want to make sure everything is transparent it's clear because at some point someone's going to be like what is this and if they come to realize that what you've been doing is trying to dupe them you're in trouble because now they'll realize that all you've been doing is just trying to take their their their ignorance for weakness and now when they know something you look crazy you don't want that so learn these things
24:32or understand them so that you're not caught up in any type of weird stuff because i've seen weird things happen there are horror stories i've heard and i'm just like wow i can't believe someone would do that so when people show you who who they are believe them so it's very very important to think about these things so i like to just tell you all this for the disclaimer because i don't talk about it much but it's important to mention these things so that you don't get caught up and say oh yeah i'm just paying for this because some people are paying for hosting when you could be owning your own hosting can you imagine you're paying somebody for hosting plus the hosting plan when you could
25:06be owning the hosting plan overall thank you for 100 jasmine so it's important to think about that too hey austin good to see you here i see you guys also got some pink tickets too with free biggie saw marie fund 22 and diego please click at the very top it says marketing club and you can join the house we have 353 766 members here so feel free to be part of this amazing community so you're welcome you're welcome you're welcome thank you for being here marianne so page indexing is something that is
25:40important and i don't want you guys to miss this page indexing is all about storage is storage if you think about oh what is page indexing oh okay that means storage that the search engine has about me that's it storage indexing is storage because if you're indexed it means you have space when you hear inventory business inventory is because the inventory is available it's inventory because it's there so if
26:13you have indexed content it means that you have database that can be tracked that can be accurately pointed at can be clicked through can be active and that's a good thing for you too so if you have a business welcome audrey you have to think about page indexing in the biggest way possible so if you have a page if you have a business your goal is to index more content on your website the more index content you get the better it is for you and let me say this way let me get give you a caveat when you index
26:49your page for the first time that's a good signal and please don't rush the signal because if you see oh we have three pages index that should not make you feel like oh okay three pages index means that we're not going to start getting sales right away no index means that it's stored you think about it imagine if i bought a new book you'd be coming to this library let's say i own a library and you've been coming to my library for the past three years right and you know every book on the shelf because
27:23you've been here every week of the year now imagine on the fourth year you're coming as a regular member to the library and i buy new books now when i buy these new books and i put these books in the categories or in different isbr numbers and say okay this is history this is science or this is fiction this is non-fiction this is spiritual this is this this is that this is business this is medicine
27:58whatever it is that you want to read right based on your interest you've been coming to this library for so long that you know everything on the shelf now you've come for the second time or the third time or let's say you've now come this new time and this first time that you've come in you've realized oh there are new books on the shelf because there are new books on the shelf and you've never seen them before these books will be very interesting for you to actually check because you're like i've seen
28:29all these books what's this book about so when you read the book you'll be like oh okay so next time you come tomorrow you're going to take three books out of the shelf including the new one that you just found yesterday that's what indexing is it's storage because it wasn't stored last week it wasn't stored last month but you've been coming here for the last three years now i've stored this book for the first time and now you're seeing it because it's already available to you because it's in the history category it's in the business category it's in the self-improvement category it's in the religious
29:04category it's in the education category so what what i'm saying is that if you have a page on your website indexing means that it's stored that's it it's stored if it's stored then that means anybody can find it anybody can walk to that shelf and pluck that book get that book bookmark that book because they want that book they can highlight that book now in terms of digital they can highlight or i can say even bookmark that page because that page is indexed on google so if you have a
29:38website it doesn't stop there a lot of businesses have websites that are not indexed on google i've seen that tremendously enough times it's a point where i'm i know that there are way more non-index pages than index pages on google for websites that have access to all this type of content that we see so you just don't want to be falling this behind at all so your goal is to create more content but not to create content that is hidden like a hidden treasure you want to make that treasure visible
30:12for people to find you and make them accessible and also make it clickable too so page indexing what does this seo term mean it means that page indexing is just another way to say that you have content that google has certified that has allowed to receive feedback from users that can actually find context resourceful for them to click on through each and every cycle so if it's eligible to appear in the search results then it's good if your page is not indexed it means that it's invisible to the users regardless
30:45of your content quality because the search engine has no record to display your relevant query imagine if you wrote a fantastic book you took about five years to write this book and now the book is launched but it's launched because you finished the book but it's not because it's launched on a server it's not launched with a ribbon it's not launched because it's not on google it's not on amazon it's not launched because people can't access it so the indexing means that i can go to amazon and say
31:19hey guys buy this book on amazon and everybody can go to amazon today and if you hear the name of that book you will go to amazon and everybody will find the same page that's what indexing means means that everybody can access the same page at the same time if i tell you go download this on this website or if i go to tell you okay go to amazon and if you're looking for this specific product type in this on the search box everybody will get the same result regardless whether you use amazon prime or not
31:51if i tell you to go to netflix and i tell you go to look for this movie everybody will find the same movie because it's been indexed index means that it has been stored so if your web page is stored on google then anybody can find it and the right person that finds it will find you relevant so i'm gonna stop there because i think i've really drilled this point home and i wanted to make sure i can make you understand this so that if it's simple great if it's not so simple then i'll definitely bring a part
32:24two so i can tell you more about this too so for those are here if you have a question put in the chat before we go i wanted to make sure i can give you guys some quick insights on how to understand what this seo term really means and what does page indexing even do to begin with it's all about storage it's all about resources it's all about activation and most importantly it's about creating context that allow someone to find you whether they're looking for you based on your context too so
32:56jasmine says thank you this was very helpful thank you so much for your feedback i always love to see that too if you have any question please reach out to me let's talk i can't wait to get on the zoom call with you talk with you connect with you make sure that i can help you and help you see what i'm seeing so that you can also make a decision and make it executively and ask yourself in the next year from now 12 months from now 24 months now from now where would i be compared to where i was 24 months before now if you really look at those things and say okay it's my birthday okay it's your
33:31birthday where were you last year where were you this year where do you want to be next year because you want to be in a better position your website also has an age right your website has a domain age and your domain age is when you purchased your website so if that domain age is growing and that domain age is building then it means that every day every year your website should be maturing your website should be getting more visibility you should be able to have more dominance you should have more experience because you've covered more topics you've covered more range you've covered more depth
