0:31with Los Angeles-based guitarist Jeff Parker. Jeff has a new album out called Happy Today by Jeff Parker's ETA Fortet, and four is like the Roman numeral for Ivy Tet. An incredible band and some really great music. This is called Like Swimwear.

2:20This is a very patient recording, very joyous recording, something that you can sink into for quite a long time. This track, Like Swimwear, is 23 minutes long, and it's this evolving, revolving figure that you can just sit back into. So, so nice from Jeff Parker. That's also Anna Boutras on the bass, Jay Belarus on the drums, and Josh Johnson on the saxophone.

Gregory Hutchinson Kind of Now

3:05Next up, we've got, well, one of our own here at Open Studio, Open Studio artist, Gregory Hutchinson. Hutch, the man, back at it with an album called Kind of Now, which is subtitled The Pulse of Miles Davis. This is Miles' centennial birth year. Miles would have been 100 years old today. And so a lot of artists are doing Miles' tributes. None better than Hutch with this. This has been getting a lot of buzz amongst jazz musicians, this album. The opening track, Alu Cha, features Ambrose, Akin Musire, Ron Blake, and Gerald Clayton,

3:39and Joe Sanders. And of course, the incomparable drummer, Gregory Hutchinson.

5:10I mean, that's, this is Hutch from day one. For the first time we heard Gregory Hutchinson a long time ago, I was hooked on the man's swing. His whole presence at the kit, this sort of like incredible way that he envelops the music

5:40and musicians around him with so much swing and heart and love. And you can hear it every time Hutch touches the drum kit. And it's all around incredible human being, Gregory Hutchinson. Kind of Now, of course, a play off of Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. The whole thing is amazing, full of just incredible heavy hitters, monsters. Go check it out right now. Chris Potter Alive with Ghosts

She's kind of a one of one. She has a new album out with the band Sex Mob called, and maybe the greatest title of the year so far, Let X Equal X. 20:48all right last but certainly not least we've got a new album from tenor titan joe lovano joe lovano has been um one of the most sought after respected uh tenor saxophonist on the scene for a great many years uh and joe has a new album called uh paramount quartet featuring again just some amazing musicians julian lodge on the guitar the great julian lodge on the guitar asante santi uh di briano on the bass and will calhoun on the drums this track is called lady day and again
