Highlighted moments

One of the biggest things you can tell from us, just from where we were to where we are now. All these videos I'm going to show you are like three minutes long. We're done with the works in about three minutes. We've changed.

Rule number one is don't lose a sheep. And Justin was really notorious about breaking his wood drill. And Marvel, too. And so far, he's not broken.

Introduction

0:00Hello and welcome to BarrettMountainBC.com, Stock Dog Philosophies Podcast. I'm your host, Ty Spanky Barrett, and joining me as always is my co-host Justin Sugar, Barrett, and our series regular, our dad. And I'm here. Beautiful Barrett right there with us. It's been a little while since we've recorded. We've had a lot happen, but we're going to focus on a lot of different things today. We're going to watch mostly videos and kind of break down some stuff we see

0:33and then also talk about some stuff in the news and hit on a brand new segment I have for us called Pup Dates. Pup Updates or Pup Dates, a better pup, kind of follow along with what they're doing. So it's going to be a good episode with lots of different things we're covering today. So hopefully you'll enjoy them. But first off, how are you guys doing? Pretty good. It's a fun day. It's not too hot outside today, but we're getting there. Yeah, good recording on Memorial Day. Yeah. What are we, a week removed from the... Two weeks on Tuesday.

1:04Two weeks of the oak tree trial? Have we went over that? Probably another two weeks from oak tree. Have we went over that one yet? We have not gone over the oak tree stuff or anything. Can I tell you something there? But we'll get to that next time. I have a lot planned for us today. Kind of bigger news, bigger trials going to set on here. So, and then our pup stuff. I think that's most of our time today.

Bluegrass Video

1:24So, let's start off with a video. The first one's going to be from the Bluegrass, a place we've never been to before, but... I hope to be there sometime. Hopefully we go to at some point. But yeah. So we're going to watch this first video. This is from Wyatt Fleming. Joe, a couple years ago over there. He's going to watch, check out the field, talk about some of that stuff. We're not going to watch the whole episode. This is readily available on YouTube. We're going to do that the whole... Trial. The whole film is there. We're just going to watch part of it.

1:54How about the field? We'll move on to the other one that, I guess, recently moved to this point of the year in the spring? Soldier Hollow. Soldier Hollow. Yeah. Probably the two biggest, I would say. Trials. Outside of like... Maybe besides Meeker, too. Meeker. Yeah. It's one of the more prestigious ones.

2:12So yeah. We start with this and we talk about the other. This is Wyatt running. He always does a good job. I'm messing with Joe. That's a good... Little represented dog. So, here we go. I guess I'm going to skip ahead a little bit.

2:28Hey, look at him. No, it's the finals because he's sinned in the shirt. He's got the jacket. He's got to have a good attire for that. Yeah.

2:41Also, you're rocking the hat. You're rocking the hat. You've got to be who you are, man. You've got to stay who you are. Again, Justin told me this. You've got to send on the come-by. I didn't understand how double lifts worked fully, but you are... You've got to send the hat for a second. They tell you which set you've got to pick up first and the direction you've got to send, which is usually like here's the come-by because you've got to pick up the set on the left-hand side of you. Because there's a set on the left-hand side. There's going to be a set on the right-hand side as well. It's out deep there. That's for his run defense.

3:11I mean, as wide as you can be. A good deep. From right here, when we watched this before, a different run, it doesn't look as far as you think. I'm sure it's a ways out there. Yeah, it's a long ways out there. Well, then it's insanely far. That one's probably about 300 yards, somewhere in there. But then you've got to take them at an angle. Yeah, so technically your lift is not to you, but it is towards the fetch panel. So you've got to come in. What is that, 10-30? Yeah. Yeah.

3:43But it's 10-head sheep, or if I remember right, it's 10-head, so you use 20 altogether. And what's so tough is like these, normally at trial you never work more than four sheep, five maybe. Yeah. So then you go to these big ones where you make the finals, double lifts, you get 20. It's a little different work than those. Yeah, you've got to pick up the 10 here, take them through the fetch panels, which we haven't been able to see yet, so you don't know where the line is exactly. There will be a post out there that you're going to have to bring the sheep to before you can send back to take the other set.

4:13Now, the hardest part with this is, which is crazy, is you have over, it's 100 points available to you with doing an outrun to fetch twice. There, you've just got to go fetch there. You've got to come to there, there's the pole you've got to go to, but you've got to get past the pole, I think. I'm not sure. You've got to get to the pole. You've got to get to the pole. You're leaving them at the poles. Your hope is you end up like right back. He looks back and he's a little, it looks like he needs to, he's got to get out, man. He'll probably flare in.

4:43You're going to see him and get out, I think, I'd imagine. Now, the hardest ring right there. Yeah.

4:50Yeah, he flexed out right there. Yeah. Yeah, it really did now. This is, I guess this year they finally changed from being horseback people that have retired from doing this, and they had Gordon Watt doing the set out on foot, and they did a fantastic job. I mean, absolutely fantastic. Him and his family. His family did it. Now, the crazy part is you have the other set down here, so you have to still work on this set and then eventually put them back together. Anyway, what's tough is you have control, oh, wow, he picked a, well, it continues on, so I don't know.

5:23Yeah, that's surprising. Okay. I don't know. It's got a lot of time. It gives the whole clock of the run. I didn't, maybe I picked a bad one. I don't know. I don't know. I figured that'd be a DQ, but maybe not today. Maybe not, because it was super tough. It looks like it's hot there, too.

5:42What's tough is, like, once you send your dog. On the other set, like, you can't control. The other one just walked off in ways. You really can't control where they go. Yeah. Watching this year's Bluegrass, there's a lot of sets that semi-states. Some of them went way off, and Thad did an excellent job putting his back together. If you watch his double lift of how he did that, it was, I thought it was really good.

6:01Nice job by him of how he put it back together. It's a little frustrating when they get so far offline doing that. Um, so it'd be nice to see. I, I, like, this is the part of Love is trying to figure out.

6:15Oh, yeah. It can cut.

6:19The second group right there going. So, I'm going to find the other group. I assume what his plan is to bring this set down, kind of get him moving towards him, and pick up the other set. It would be my assumption of what his plan is to do, and not draw this set offline. Um, that's how I'd assume you'd have to do this, but I'd like to see what, why it's going to do. He's done a lot more of these than I have, so, which is.

6:44None. None. But exactly zero. Yeah, so I've done zero of these, so I'm like, I'm just taking this on, uh, watching other videos and the hypotheticals of it. I thought it was also getting hot. I mean, we're ten minutes in now. We've still got a lot to do. I haven't even started to drive yet. It just tells you. Yeah, it's a twenty-minute course. Twenty-five, I think.

7:08Moving them again. These things don't come together great. Somehow I think he skipped over the park, because now they're all together, so I didn't see how he put them together. That's okay. Yeah, I just wanted to walk through some of this. We skip ahead and drive. And then, you also have the ability, at any time you can call your dog to water. So, because it's such a long course. Starting to drive them a little bit now. Depending on the dog, how hot he is with this, he might have to take a drink. I don't know. Most of the people I saw this year at Bluegrass, they got through the double lifts, fetch, drive, and then they went to the water.

7:39But you've got to pay attention to your dog and know what they're able to do, because you're asking a lot to do this. Yeah, he already saved him the water. Yeah. It's a lot. It's not like a crazy big horse or anything. You don't let the terrain's insane. It's just, you know, tough sheep. They're doing deer lunch.

8:00They're not dog before. I mean, you see, this is a good dog. He's walking right in, and they're still slow to move. So, it's a lot of pressure. I mean, you've got to push them. They're not going to go themselves. How much are we going to watch this? Probably stop right about here. All right. A good amount in. It's totally worth it to go watch some of these Bluegrass meekers. Soldier Hollows, Double Lifts. I mean, all of them are worth watching. You're seeing some top-level people do it. Yeah. You're seeing a lot of people get there. I don't really know this lady.

8:31How you doing? I don't know. Well, Jack. Jock, maybe. I don't know. So, this was a good from a live stream.

Soldier Hollow

8:39First off, just look at the view. You know what I mean? This is Soldier Hollow. This is a beautiful Utah ski resort, right? I don't think there's fences either. So, you could just lose them off into the countryside. Yeah. In the brush. It is possible. It's kind of weird with the road going over it, I guess. But the course is – that uphill has got to be longer than it looks. Yeah. But just a picturesque view going uphill the whole way.

9:10So, let's watch a little bit.

9:17Go back.

9:22To go.

9:25It'd be kind of weird to send in to that. A lot of people do send in to it. Yeah. I would assume she's probably going to get redirected. Yeah. I bet she did right there. Right there. Some children. She just got driven in. She's coming that long of that. Yeah. He got drawn into it. It's kind of narrow. You know? Your dog can't run crazy wide or find a fence. There's no fence. Well, they can. Like, if you had a dog go out and pick that, they'd go behind the trees and get wide. But it would take forever. A lot of them do. A lot of them do that.

9:56That's kind of cool with that little pioneer cabin sitting there. Yeah. It's a good scenic background. I mean, it's just a gorgeous view. I mean, getting around them.

10:14I mean, you got a long ways to that fetch panels. And the drive, cross drive, the cross drive doesn't seem super long. Man, that mowing field has got all the zigzagging lines. So, you can't even benefit from, like, hitting the line on it and just coming down it. Yeah. You got to know. Zig a little bit because all the trees, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Man, isn't that pretty? All right. That's just gorgeous. The Olympics were right here. 2002. The Winter Olympics. Winter Olympics. Skiing.

10:47So, yeah. I was looking up some of the history on this. It was really interesting because the guy who wanted to do this here was, like, it's the perfect venue. They already had all the stuff, infrastructure set up, the stands, the announcing stuff, and all that was already there because of the Olympics. So, it made, so the guy who came, wanted to put this on here, like, this is perfect because everything's already here. The infrastructure's already built for something. Yeah. Or used for something else. Now it's just sitting here. That's one of the problems. A lot of places go, like, bankrupt after the Olympics because they built all this stuff and then had nothing to use it for. And this, and the place that does sold it, all of them have done a lot of other events there

11:20and used a lot of things throughout the year. Hit the fetch panel, man. It's pretty, just beautiful coming down that side. What better use for a ski resort than a sheepdog trail? See if we can skip a little closer here. Watch a little drive action, maybe.

11:37Again, over the road, I mean, the road's not flat. It's got a little, like, I don't know, hill to it or whatever. Bank. It's kind of cool. Well, it's just a wonderful event. And I would love someday to do well enough with a dog to get asked to go. That's a big billboard. Maybe I was wrong. The drive and cross drive are crazy long. It's pretty good. Cross drive's insane, I guess. It's pretty long. Yeah. That drive's pretty good, too, because it's a harsh angle over there. Yeah.

12:10Another big pro plan.

12:13Sign over the billboard. I mean, just look at that, man. Gorgeous. Just look at that. I'm talking about the dog look. Just, which is good, too. Well, I mean, this is a lot of nice. She's going to make a good turn. Ooh. Got a little stirred up. She don't seem too crazy or anything. Yeah, I think they're pretty workable. At least this isn't from last year. I was looking it up from the family to get these from. Because I was looking up the histories last week, obviously, because I was interested.

12:44It was really interesting where the sheep come from and everything.

12:52Yeah.

12:56And just the view of, like, how far away we know that cool cross drive is. It's very nice to get your markers to stay in between the. Yeah, you've got a tunnel. You've got a tunnel. And that. And just go across. Say tunnel. It's kind of, it's helpful. You know, whenever you're off, for sure. Screwed ahead. That cross drive is pretty. Still got a ways to go, you know. I mean, that cross drive is pretty crazy. And she must, I mean, it's like somebody's going to say, you need to be behind the trees to be able to make it. Because it kind of angles that cross drive. It looks like it angles up.

13:26It does. Might have been low there. The video froze and then. Yeah. She just hit it or missed it and then come back down.

Penning Sheep

13:34Let's watch a pen. Coming pretty good, I think. I think they get first. Let's watch a shed then, okay?

13:42It's five heads, so this is obviously. Two on the tail. Get two on the head, so. It's a shedding ring way over here.

13:52So far, it's a pretty small looking shed ring. It is. It's regulation. But it is a good little jaunt over there. You have to take the last two on the head, I think, so. We're about to find out. It's kind of cool because they got all the spectator stands where we're looking at here. So all the people are sitting right here watching you do this up close. It might cause some things.

14:23There she goes. She's not one around. There you go. Turn that around, huh?

14:29Move back altogether, I guess.

14:36There you go. Right there. Sure, too. Oh, there's going to be a little bit lost on that.

14:42Man. I don't. I myself wouldn't give it just. I don't know. He didn't hold it. She got it. Or she. Yep, I guess so. Sometimes it's the judge's discretion. Sometimes you thank God they said yes. Let's see if they pen easy or not here. By the looks of it, from this weekend, they're set this year. Look at that. You got the thing on the inside of the pens. You opened it up. You can see that. Yeah. Yeah. I think I'm prepared, man. That's smart. That's smart.

15:13Well, a few times I would. The only time I've ever seen the wooden pens is at Nationals. Everyone else has the middle. I think in, uh, we went to. Yeah, we did. We did. Maine, it was, uh. It was up there. Yeah. Maine. We went to, uh. Montana, it was a wooden pen, too. I didn't make it to it, but there was a wooden pen. Yeah, we didn't get that far, but.

15:34Not a lot of people got that far, so. Skip ahead. You got them right in there. They're some big suckers, ain't they? Yeah, they're big. Hefty, still got the wool on them. This is where a crook is helpful. You're seeing how you use it, too. Dog's holding really good pressure. But test that tire out. It doesn't lift it up very much.

16:06There you go. Boom. Wow, look, he didn't get a score real fast. I guess he's missing out. Maybe he must have been a little later or something, maybe. Yeah. Because she's part of the dog training online. Yeah. Yeah, that was good. All right. That was, uh, 15-plus minutes in here. We watched a good run. Again, Soldier Hollow and Bluegrass, probably two of the biggest four, I would say, with Nationals. Yeah. Uh, Meeker, those would be your... If you had a four Grand Slams, those would probably be it. Dog training. Yeah.

16:37You could win all four of them on the same day. Yeah. That would be crazy. The fifth would be the Oak Tree trial. Yeah. Yeah. We'll win the fifth major in a lot. I gotta get the rest of them, you know. Yes. Yeah.

Pup Updates

16:49All right. Um, so now we're going to move into our next segment. Pup updates. But with that, Pup dates, okay. Pup dates. Uh, you have Jim, Justin has a puppy, Jim. A little over a year old. Dad has Poe, a little over a year old. I have Kiara and Scooter. Again, Kiara, Scooter, and Poe are all littermates. Also, I still think Scooter's a terrible name. You should have went with, like, Mashed or something. I don't like Scooter. I think Scooter's a great name.

17:20I think it's pretty good. I like it. Uh, but yeah, so we're going to watch those. But first, I want us to, uh, watch something from way back. Maybe give us a good perspective on, uh, our new puppies found this video. Cool. I have Justin as well with Woodrow back then.

17:40This is Kara. This is after I've settled her down a little bit.

17:45We still got the, I think they have the hay bales inside. The arena doesn't. Kara's just running as fast as she can. Hey, it looks a lot like Kiara. I gotta tell you that. You know what you think, Dad? Not even close. Kiara didn't do that. Maybe not that amount of speed, but that kind of going.

18:04This is when Tom adopted the, uh, leash method. There's her hanging on. It's a little different. I'm very glad. I don't see her do that today. Every once in a while. Get into the first minute of this. This was obvious in November. Yeah. Well, this is her 11 months. That would make sense. Yeah. She's leaning in and running.

18:39I've got a lot better. You've got a flag. You've got a flag and we're letting it rip.

18:44Yeah. All right. Dad, you think from that, seeing her there, where she's at now, you just go, man, good thing I started helping Ty with her. Yes. Yeah. Why?

18:59Let's try to do the next one real quick. My next one has any better. You know? Let's do this for a second. I'm not going to say mine's any better. Let's see. What'd he go? I assume you watched this. He had the cows at that time. This is Woodrow two months later. Okay. This is in January. Oh, I said 11. This says 13. Pretty sure too much later. This is not going to go well then. It's creeping up. He's ready to get me. Double check. Get him.

19:28Hold on. Before we start. Have you watched this? I watched a few seconds of it.

19:35I just noticed a comment is, one of the things that's really tough on young dogs is just Kiorax does it really well now, which is great. Scooter does too. But lying them down and then starting off, they're not taking off or doing whatever first. And so Woodrow did a pretty good job here, actually, of staying down for you. Like double check him, look back. He laid back down. That was really good. Kara was not good at that initially. I don't know. Some dogs are really hard to get to do that. Some want to please you, want to work with you, and they'll listen really well. That's just my comment there.

20:06Okay. Okay. Cool. Cool. Cool. All right. Anytime we stop and talk about some stuff too. Just tell me to pause you a bit too. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Let's break some of these down. I don't know how this is going to look. This is going to be bad. You can rewind too. I don't think I want you to rewind any of it.

20:22He'd probably just... He's that's doing pretty decent right now. Yeah.

20:31Probably right out of the round pen. I bet he probably... His works probably wasn't his third or so. He's doing pretty strong right there. Looking better than Carr. It was two months, but... I think Carr said 11. I could be wrong. It might have been 13.

20:51Might have been something else. Carr said 11. Put the round bells in your ring anymore. Yeah. Don't have that obstacle. We don't have that random shoot thing in the way anymore. But we don't have the calcium. He's doing a good job of going around, staying off, and giving balance to your car. Carr was just running in a circle. So this is definitely a better feel for that. Yeah, we have to... How do you feel about his just feel right now? I don't think it was long after this. He entered him in the hand.

21:20A couple months later. That's a couple years. Yeah, he's a couple years. They did pretty good right there. Honestly. Better than Carr. Better than Carr. We had a break in the field, and she started listening. When Dad helped.

21:33Oh my gosh. One time, Dad did. Two seconds with her. Hey, Dad helped me too. I can't ever deny Dad's help, okay? He's pretty good. How do you feel about Woodrow right now? Tell me about what you think. Man, he was nice. Compared to doing Jim, watching this, what do you think? Is she ahead of him, or are you ahead of her? At this point, she's way ahead of him at this point. But I also didn't put as much time in him early. I'm saying talent-wise. Talent-wise? It's a good lie down and calm right there. He's his big, goofy self.

22:10Yeah, he still runs like that. Yeah, he runs exactly like that.

22:16And he did not go the way he wanted him to there.

22:19But he gives to you pretty good.

22:23Turns and opens up. Yeah, he's always nice, Dad.

22:31When he wasn't hanging on, he was doing real nice. This is a seven-minute video, which is, I think, I think one of the biggest things that you would say.

22:44You probably could have stopped right here. At 2.48, it would have been fine. Let's just click ahead to five or six, see if it goes south. That's why it takes so long. I'm just kidding. I have no idea. Maybe it does. I bet it goes bad. I was, wasn't in the philosophy then of short and good. It's good. You know, I thought it needed a long time for it.

23:07Sometimes. Obviously, you're now on top of the hay bale, Ty. Because that's not Dad.

23:16Just grab him and move him. Say that again. I've always had a... There he goes. He outrun with his friend there. Tight, but he got out. You know, unlike Ty, I was a little mad at that point at him. Look, there's cows in the background. Yeah. Yeah. You can probably just end it there. Yeah, we can probably stop it there. But yeah, there he goes. Good. Lie down. Moving. Actually, Woodrow worked pretty good. I would say upper-hand Woodrow right there.

23:48Yeah, well, you didn't have car. That's a two-month difference. Cars. Cars, we've heard along with that point. Two months. Cars. Cars say 11. Cars say 11. Cars. Two more months. Yeah, that could make a difference. All right, let's go to the pups for a minute.

Current Pups

24:03We're going to the now today, pups? Not the old pup date? Yeah, give me a second. We'll get to the pups. Our current pups. I have these videos. We've got a couple other videos, too. For us.

24:19Nope. Got me fine.

24:29Here's Poe. Oh.

24:35This today? I think this is today. Yeah, Dad's in that shirt. Dang, we're almost a matching shirts.

24:45What are your thoughts on Poe? Let's just start with that, Dad. Yeah, talk to us about him. Oh, he's good and nice. He's not a real pushy-dogging thing. Old video cameras come a long way, I'm telling you. Yeah. Just look how focused he is on the... He drives hard. He's real easy.

25:02Get a pretty good little outrun right here. He doesn't have many works on him. Like I said, if I work him two days a week, it's a lot. He's still maturing. He's still, I feel like, in my mind, just a big pup. I know he's just over a year, but he's just kind of a boy puppy that's kind of slow maturing. Looking good. I'm enjoying the wear and to work the bigger group. Because there's probably about ten or more in there. So you kind of can't quite lock in on it. There's lambs in there that don't know anything. He's got his one ear up, one ear down thing.

25:42Call him back off. He called off. One of the biggest things you can tell from us, just from where we were to where we are now. All these videos I'm going to show you are like three minutes long. We're done with the works in about three minutes. We've changed. As opposed to let's go for ten, fifteen minutes or whatever we're doing. I think I'll leave for that one. Let's go back and watch that a little bit. Let me rewind just a little bit. It's crazy.

26:13Those lambs are like maybe three months old and they're pretty big. Look at his outline. He gives up good ground right here. Not going that far out there.

26:22He turns the wrong way first. But look at that. Good open. Flares up good. Goes wide. Finishes deep. Checks in. Checks, checks. Enough eye to check in on himself before he gets there. Goes down. He's a little bit upright. I think he probably... Yeah. Dad likes an upright dog. Yeah, Aslan was pretty upright. That's what I think. He'd like an upright dog. Yeah. An upright moving dog. Yeah. There he goes. Good little walk like car. Looks like a car right there. I like a... I like it that they're free flankers.

26:53They grab a little bit or at least got in there. Yeah. Let go and reset. He's not vicious.

27:01Just look at the focus he has on you the whole time. He's just like... I'm worried about sheep. He's just like you. Yeah. Also, I feel it was really wet this morning. My feet are so... I know. My shoes are gone. I want rubber boots this morning. I should have...

27:19Again, good. It's still a good outrun. You saw the other way. I checked. Again, coming in there. Not coming in crazy hard up top. And that was it. Kind of stopped there. Yeah.

27:39Who's the next pup date? Did you take these or yours or you just take... I didn't get any of mine. Oh, wow. Get them. We'll keep doing it. You have to have Justin do it. I can't see the phone to do it. All right. They're up next. Justin. I did ask. Well, then I had to run. The sheep about running off the field. It kind of complicated it. Just need to pee. All right. Justin and Jim. Takes off. She had a bit of a start before the others. Because Casey had done it. Got her from her.

28:10Again, good. But she comes in a little hard up top. Then she settles in. But she looks really good. Flexing out really nice. I'm going to honestly tell you, I didn't expect her to do what she did today. From working her at the house. That was good. That's not coming as hard. Got a full reset.

28:37It's already wet. I didn't shake it off just from the dew. I know. The dew is pretty wet out there this morning. I think I'm going to go mow this week. Mow is a path up there, so I don't have to walk in the talk. Yeah. That's what I do at least. You know, at least do that. Well, at least the top part of the field. This was actually a pretty good little outrun. Yeah.

28:57Look at how much better the phone cameras are than they were eight years ago when we did the car with drones.

29:04Pretty scenic now.

29:11But she comes in and she comes in. That was pretty good there. Yeah, that was nice. Looks like a better video than I was watching it live. Well, she checks in what I thought. There's a lady in the background. There's a girl, though. She went the wrong direction.

29:26Sometimes I try to off-balance flank her a little bit, test her. I was really hoping to do the circle game for a minute and then the reverse circle game, and it was kind of hard. I did get it there. I noticed something this year with Lady that I've never noticed before. The hawks. When we first get up there, the hawks and the buzzard will fly. She actually chases along after a barking animal.

29:49What a shit. We're getting into a bit of a jam there. These two are bottle lambs. They didn't spend any time with the others. They break off really easy. It's kind of worried you might lose them. I was worried, too. I was trying to get them back together, and I followed the rule number one, Ty. I know. Let's talk about that for a second. Rule number one is don't lose a sheep. And Justin was really notorious about breaking his wood drill. And Marvel, too. And so far, he's not broken. The sheep are better by not running off. That's what's a little ugly here.

30:19It really was ugly. But sometimes when you're in a tough spot, it's got to be ugly. They were actually fairly close to the bleachers, so that kind of pushed it. Yeah, they had a big, heavy draw. So sometimes it's okay to be ugly in a tough spot. Like, get the job done. Who cares about luck sometimes? You know what I mean? When it's really rough, John. Yeah, she handled it, and I got to take that as a win.

30:36They've got the little outrun here. Because Ty was standing on the bleachers, so they were right by it. Yeah, and I had Kara kind of blocking them off there, too. It was a lot. But she did really well. Yeah. Big wide. Yeah, she could do some about half the field propping, though. Yeah, maybe. If I start pushing her. Stretch her out a little bit, I think. I'm starting to want to stretch her out a little bit and then start driving. And that's all we got for her for this one.

31:07I had a couple other clips of Poe, too. Watch one of them. Ah. Ted says one was good enough. He's all right. One was good at Poe. All right. He's a... He's a... He's a... Now, we'll break in, then. I don't want to let you see that, and then you're going to see him at nursery trial, just laying down the course. That's what he wants. No in between. Just... We'll go back to some old runs. He found one of Ruby and of just Justin working around with Spice. He's not even back in the trial run. Just Justin working around. Follow him. So we'll walk through these. He's going to wrap this up. He's already 30 minutes into this thing.

31:39He says, oh, 2018. He's a little bit of Ruby. He's a little bit of Ruby. I don't know if that's you. She had good out, right?

31:56He says, when we had it, not corner, not catty corner anymore, just straight down to the field. I don't know why they did that, but... They did because they were fixing the... Oh, yeah. The fence. Well, no. They had the... Pipeline. Pipeline tore up the fence corner over there and were working it, so they couldn't do the catty corner distance anymore. So it had shortened it up a bit with doing it this way. But it did allow for a... The outrun... Topping the outruns weren't as difficult with running into the corner of the fence over there. I thought it was maybe a little bit of black and dad's goatee there ain't there anymore, you know?

32:38That's great. He's locked. Yeah.

32:41I must have wore on him, Tommy. Yeah, it's warm and down. That's when I got on that gray. These dogs, you mean, right? No.

32:52You too. That's when Ruby listened. Yeah, she's doing good. Bring on down Broadway.

33:00Sometimes she would get her own agenda, but she was a nice... I mean, she could be nice.

33:08So with the pup updates, the pup date segment, we're going to kind of keep that as a weekly reoccurring segment for us. And what do you do? Next ones are you two's?

33:22That was Charlie. We're just going to keep adding to it. We'll get some of mine, some of yours, just one or two videos each week. Kind of give us something to break down and talk about and just kind of show progression of a dog and a puppy as we go through them. Good way to do that. And one thing I also have to bring up earlier is we do have...

Old Training Videos

33:38We mentioned the bluegrass earlier, right, in the very first segment. We have a promise to be a guest. It's going to be on soon. The 2026 bluegrass champion, Blake Byron. He is. Going to be on the show with us, so stay tuned in for that one. Yeah, in the next week or so, we'll have you more. We'll get a... She's pushing these really nice, and these were heavy, heavy.

34:03She... I missed it.

34:06You missed it? Yes. She was high. Well, you do that sometimes.

34:13Can't blame him on his vision. He was doing it back then. Yeah.

34:18Dad likes to... Especially the cross drive. He misses those high, I feel like, a lot. He's never in danger of cutting the course. No.

34:30The nice part with the end of your cross drive is almost a straight line into the pin here, so hopefully we'll have enough time and Dad's run here. It's an open run and not an open ranch run. Otherwise... Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, so we'll see how this goes and see where we end up.

34:55Yeah.

34:57She was... If I remember right, she was a pretty good pinning dog. Yeah.

35:03We made that easy.

35:06Yep.

35:12All right. Yep, that was a nice run. Well, you can tell we like golf courses.

35:28It'd be beautiful for a trial.

35:34I had to go out. My brother had a stroke, and he's calling something, so he had to get up and walk out there and see what he's needing. And Justin hasn't figured out how to work the computer, so...

35:54Hey, we were looking at a ski resort earlier, so now we're doing a golf course, seeing where we're going to have our next trial. Okay, we're back now. Oh, OST, English Poops, just... Oh, we're good. I don't even know where to go. Okay. It's old school. It's back and forth. This is just, Justin, not even a trial.

36:19Just... Working? Working, it says. Let's see what Justin and Spice are working on. I don't know what that is that long ago, so... I think we can come up together and just watch some training back today, and it's good stuff or bad stuff. Yep. When they were in Bartlesville, it's kind of like now, we'd go just work dogs up there every now and again. See them coming again.

36:432018 Spice is what? There's five at this point. Yeah, she's 2013, so... Um, I assume I'd still be an open ranch at this point, but I can't 100% guarantee that. But I think... Looks good, movable. I think you're trying to... I think he's trying to run the course a little bit here. Yeah.

37:05I figure out where we're at. Ruth kept the... I think you're filming yourself, maybe. Ruth always kept 10 or 20 of the ranch. I think so. Obviously, I felt that confident with her. After the trial, so... Yeah.

37:17Yeah. It'd be really awkward if I was filming for you. Like, right on top of you.

37:27Getting moving good.

37:31What do you like about Spice? What are some things you see that... I loved everything about that, Doug. She gave me it all. She put what she needed to out there. She was fast. She was smart. She was independent. Thinker at points, and that was helpful. She understood panels really well. Something would do, I don't think that is very well. Getting a little wary right now. She could do that a little bit. It's also a little bit of a struggle right there, because that's where the... Starting out, right where we were at before, is the other sheep. So, kind of, you're fighting all the sheep. The pool that's...

38:02Yeah. ...to the right pretty hard. And just hitting me, getting close to that drive panel. We ain't close at it, but we're going towards it. And, yeah, going back and forth, back and forth. The way they had this field set up originally, like, that drive and cross drive were pretty... Had it pretty good distance. It was a pretty good drive. I mean, the drive was out there a good little ways. Cross drive was a good distance, too.

38:28It was using the most of the field. You got it hit.

38:33Yep, obviously, I'm... I think you had the GoPro on. I think this is the GoPro on. That's why I can't zoom in. I can't zoom in, and you can see my hands going. Yeah, see the hands flying.

38:49Here we go. We're going to watch a pin up close. This is a set, I think. This is... Hold on. So, this might be one of Justin's very first shot attempts right here. I see, yeah. Might be the first one ever, you know. This is going to be kind of fun to watch. Let's see what's happening here. We got five, or six.

39:12Again, they just... Oh, my gosh. They spread perfectly for you. Wow. And took them.

39:20That was... Ho, ho, ho. I can't do it. Too good to be true. They just... Like that, let's get a little replay.
