Decibel Geek Podcast Introduction

1:28This is the Decibel Geek Podcast with Chris Sinzak and Aaron Camaro. Welcome back to another exciting edition of the Decibel Geek Podcast. My name is Aaron Camaro. Joined as always by my good friend, rock and roll buddy, yours and mine, it's Chris Sinzak. Going back and doing something classic today, my friend.

2:01Yeah, this is going to be a fun. I haven't done a radio suck show in a while and it's like there's so much good music to share with you guys. I wish we could do this more often. We could do this weekly and never run out of music because there's so much good stuff out there. But excited to do this again. Yeah, for sure. This goes way, way, way back. Like 15 years ago when Chris and I first met. We were talking about doing the Decibel Geek Podcast. And what's the Decibel Geek Podcast going to be about and what kind of different things can we do? And it's like, you know, we could just be like the anti-radio because radio plays the

2:34same crap over and over and over again. And even if it's good, they play it so much you get sick of it. A lot of problems with radio nowadays. They don't cover the new bands coming out. They don't cover new songs by the classics that are still out there doing it. Today, we're going to give you a little bit of everything. A little bit of here and then. A little bit of now and before. So we'll have fun. We'll spin some cool tunes. Chris has got some great stuff picked out. I think I got some pretty good ones picked out too. Yeah, I think you're going to find plenty of good new music to listen to.

3:05I'm pretty impressed with both of our lists today. Right on. Well, that's always a good sign because radio sucks. But you got us. Turn you on a little something today. Before we get to that, we got to take care of our business.

Reader Comments

3:18What is our business? I don't even damn know anymore. I guess it's awesome comments left to us on our episodes, which we do get them. So we're going to read them. We're going to share them with you. Top fan, Tony Smith. He says he can never get enough of the times. That's awesome. I love that you guys love the times and GeekWire. Good ideas we came up with, I think. And it's a lot of fun to do it. And like I said, it's always good to keep up on what's happening now. And got to remember the rock stars that passed away and do the fun album anniversaries and talk about new music coming out.

3:53That stuff's important. Mighty K. She says, Stevie Rochelle is awesome. He handled that like a normal person and a gentleman. Good for him. I hope the other one can get their shit together and do better. And she says, I would listen to an episode all about the Kurt Cobain theories. And that's all I've got so far into this episode. She'll be back. She always does. We get the most awesome messages from Mighty K. I was just going to say, we should pull the curtain back a little bit. Because we have a group Facebook chat with Mighty K.

4:25And she is the best about sending feedback. Her and Luce Cannon from Coburs and Fire, I hear from the most. We could really just read their comments that they send to us in the messages and you guys would be in stitches. We always love hearing from any of you that want to hear about it. But yeah, she always has a good running commentary whenever she's listening to the episodes. Yeah, that makes it fun for us. Yeah. All right. Patrick Breen, he agrees. Stevie is awesome.

4:56Spazginbach? Not so much. I too would listen to a Kurt Theories episode. And he's going to listen to some Ramones in honor of Joey on this day.

Kurt Cobain Episode Idea

5:05See, that's what the times are all about. Makes you think like, man, I really need to listen to some Ramones in honor of the passing of Joey Ramone. That's kind of why we do it. And I'm really thinking we should maybe look into this Kurt Cobain. Episode. Maybe we find a cool guest or two to come on with that. Okay. I'd be down for it. Why not? It's a crazy story. Our good friend Rich Love says he's really glad that I've been giving the Dwarves a chance. They're still the best band ever. And he sends us a link. We check it out. Chris Sinzak says that's a beautiful ballad.

5:36It really is. It touched my soul.

5:40We'll talk a little bit about the Dwarves today in just a little bit. I love the Dwarves. All right. Jeff Roblooski just says, great episode. Thank you, man. Mighty K is back. She listened to a little bit further into the episode. Also, I just need to say that the length of this episode is pure gold. And that thing was almost three hours long. She says, thank you so much. It could have been a little bit longer. She said. Take this.

6:07She always tells us, like, the only thing I bitch about your episodes is they're not long enough. It's like, here's a three-hour episode. Eh, maybe just a little bit longer than that. We're going to wind up doing a 24-hour marathon at some point. Yeah, man. You know, when things get broken up the way they do and I can't always time it out to have two separate episodes of the times within one month, then I really got to, like, leave out a lot of stuff that I normally wouldn't leave out.

6:37But then there's some stuff you can't leave out, and then that's how you end up with three-hour episodes.

6:45Don Nitschke says, there's one more name you can add to the April 5th list. You guys know April 5th, the day that hard rock died because so many rock stars died on that day. Paul O'Neill, famed producer of Sabotage and the founder of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He also passed away on April 5th back in 2017. I'd forgotten about that.

April 5th Episode Idea

7:08Pretty soon, we're just going to have to do that day. We could do an episode on April 5th. That might be an idea. Do the episode on April 5th, the conspiracy of why so many people die on that day. Have the April 5th episode, and we'll record it on April 5th. I don't know if we should do that. That's scary. I'll get the Ouija board out and everything.

7:28Count me out. I'm probably too big a chicken to do it now, but when I was younger and stupider, yeah, I used to do stuff like that. Yeah, for sure.

7:38Chris Fretwell thanks us for a fun episode. Oh, Mighty K's back. Now she's looking forward to hearing the new Sepultura the most, and she's on her way to Apple Music. That's awesome. That song was good. I like that. David McGuire says, another great show. Just a note on Wasp's Unholy Terror. Chris Holmes said he doesn't play on Unholy Terror at all, apart from maybe one solo. I did not know that. He's definitely credited on there. Yeah, you never know. And then Sheila Dawn Taylor says, this looks interesting.

8:10I can't wait to give it a listen on my drive home. I hope you guys get to do that. I like to think that people out there that got tough drives and tough commutes were able to help you make it go by real fast and a little easier when you're listening to Decibel Geek. Yeah, and in the comments, and I'll probably do a social media post on this because this seems like a good interactive idea, like, what is your setting for listening to Decibel Geek? I want to hear, you know, do you listen to us at work, on your drive to work? What do you do while you listen to the show, even if that includes pleasuring yourself?

8:44I don't want to know.

8:47But no, just tell us how you listen to the show. I'd be curious to know. Yeah, me too. That's cool. Good idea. All right, so that's that. When this episode comes out, you're going to see it on your social medias, wherever you're at, and yeah, listen to this. Tell us what you like. Tell us what you don't like, especially today. Hey, how about this? Why don't you today, after we're done here, we're going to play five songs apiece. Chris got five. I got five. When it's all said and done, let's make it a contest.

9:18Who picked the best song? Out of these ten songs, which one's your favorite? I like that idea. Yeah, I've thought about doing that in the past, where I'm like, who did better this time? Because it's all subjective. Everybody's going to have different tastes. But I went through Aaron's list, and he's listening to mine. But I think we've got ten pretty great songs to play today. Yeah, really good stuff. Like I said, some of it's new, some of it's old. A little in between, a little bit of everything. I'll tell you this, it all rocks. And you're going to dig all of it, I think.

9:49You're going to have a hard time picking your favorite one out of these. So, man, I got a cool one if you want to let me end. But you got a cool one to end with, too. Well, I think the one you have at the end of your list is going to make a better play out song. Okay, I'm cool with that. Well, then you go ahead and get us started off. See how I just got my way at going first right there? Just joking. No, the last song is going to be killer. Just wait. Yeah, it's awesome. It's so good. Because it got served up. I'll talk about it later. But it got served up to me recently, too.

10:20That's why I was glad you picked it, because I wanted to pick it, too.

Tigers of Pantang Music

10:23So my first one, No Strangers to the Show and Legends of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Tigers of Pantang, released a new single on May 4th called Electrified on Mighty Music. Of course, the current lineup is Rob Weir, Jack Mayle, Francisco Maras, Hugh Holding, Hugh spelled H-U-W, that's a new spelling of Hugh, and Craig Ellis. And Tigers of Pantang, I think John Sykes would have been proud if he got to hear this song.

10:58It's a great new song by them. It's called Electrified.

11:05Electric current risen through my veins. Embracing a death, a pure despair.

11:38A torture, Tiffany of endless pain. A kiss of death from inside this devil's lair. I never wanted to feel the light so much. And now I'm trapped inside this nightmare, losing touch.

12:06I never wanted to be guessing, will I ever make it out alive? I'm at the point of no return, losing my mind.

12:20I'm gonna get electrified.

12:26I'm gonna get electrified. Environmental power rushing to my core. The flesh, the bone, the metal fusing, burning through my soul. I walk into a path of endless pain Facing the envious

12:59With death forever reigns I never wandered Among a faceless cloud I'm trying to shut this nightmare Crying loud There's no answer to the madness Just wanna leave it all behind I'm at the point of no return Losing my mind I'm gonna get electrified

13:34I'm gonna get electrified As I fall in I see the faces of the victims of my crimes The hands clawing at my soul

14:06Fire demons Scream inside and knowing soon I will be there Seize my Satan's head Drag deep below So let the darkness take me Take me away While you watch the kicking And the screaming fade away In the silence of the aftermath

14:38See the world through my darkest eyes I never wanted to feel alive so much Now I'm trapped inside this nightmare Losing touch I never wanted to be guessing Will I ever make it out alive I'm at the point of no return

15:10Losing my mind I'm gonna get electrified I'm gonna get electrified Gonna get electrified I'm gonna get electrified I'm gonna get electrified

15:40I'm going to get electrified I'm going to get electrified man I love it when these classic bands come around in 2026 and are releasing stuff like

16:17that that's killer man and tires pantang that's as old school as it gets so for those guys to be putting out something that good and that powerful in the current day it's pretty incredible and I love Rob Weir's vocal delivery he's he's very unique there's no other band especially from that era that has a singer that sounds quite like he does but it really works the riffs are always awesome the stuff they put out over the last 10 years I think ranks up there with the best stuff they did even back in the early 80s yeah no it's it's killer for sure there's a lot of bands out

16:52there right now that are doing some of the best work of their career yeah and they came out in like the 80s they've been doing it for decades and they're better now than they've ever been just don't forget to get your motley crew tickets well not all of them but there are no I'm just saying you could be supporting tigers of pantang stop stop buying motley crew tickets go support other bands man I'd be cool to see those guys in an arena yeah uh they're they probably deserve to

17:24be but yeah not just yeah for sure yeah a band that really goes under the radar with the new album if you want to call it that movement but yeah I love tigers of pantang right on that's a hell of a way to start all right I'm gonna take you on a journey on an adventure down the slim tender rabbit hole you ready for this all right so it all started for me with my love for faster pussycat and my admiration for their bass player slim tender also known as danny nordahl I love going down rock and

18:01roll rabbit holes where you're like you're listening to something or you see a band or you find an artist that you dig and you go I wonder what other stuff this guy has done you know because slim tender has obviously been around for a minute so I started digging you know it's fun to go to discogs and just put in that name and go holy shit I didn't know they played on all this stuff and this guy's had it's it's you know like I said it for me it starts with faster pussycat and then it just goes right on down the line so come with me down the slim tender rabbit hole before joining faster pussycat

18:34slim tender's already building an underground rock resume with just awesome bands all right it starts out with a band called the throbs are you familiar with them I've heard of them I don't really know their music they're kind of a gritty new york city glam sleaze rock kind of band they released one album in 1991 on geffen records it was called the language of thieves and vagabonds it's really good axel rose was a fan of these guys he thought this band is gonna do something oh wait it's 1991

19:06a lot of fans probably consider this one kind of a lost album of the early 90s but yeah I recommend people checking out the throbs the album's called the language of thieves and vagabonds from there slim tender finds himself in a band called new york loose are you familiar with them yes this is another underrated new york city band they kind of carried the punky trashy glam kind of spirit they released one album in 1996 and it was called year of the rat it was just cool because I was like

19:40I think I've got that album so I go and look and I got it it's pretty cool these guys must have had something behind them because they ended up with a song on the crow city of angels soundtrack with a bunch of other really popular bands from that time this is also where in the story enters a key figure by the name of mark diamond mark's going to become kind of a reoccurring character in this whole little thing we go down so before reconnecting with slim later on mark diamond has already built his own thing

20:13he's a hell of a guitar player and he's a member of the dwarves so I go okay all right so now you got this connection with mark diamond and slim tender in the new york loose and he's part of this band called the dwarves and I'm thinking I think I've got a dwarves album I think I got a cd I think I remember it's like two naked women a midget and they're covered in blood that's got to be yeah that's the one what else could you want so I pull it out I listen to I like man this is killer and then so I pick out some of their other albums like sugar fix the dwarves are young and good looking and come

20:47clean those guys they're like a punk rock hand grenade I mean just a crazy wild band and so now not only am I learning about slim tender I'm getting turned on to bands like the dwarves and that's how that happens so then I look further and see what else this guy's done so after that he reunites with Mark Diamond and they join forces with Chad Stewart the drummer from LA Guns and they form a band called Motokrist I go wow I want to hear this so I order a couple of cds and one of them I get is their debut

21:23album from back in 2000 called 666 Pack it's like biker bar speed freak motorhead beer soaked rock and roll man it's awesome I love it motor Christ is going to release three more albums through 2003 kind of a cult favorite LA underground rock band so then from there because that don't really take off too much for him because I mean look at the times slim's going to join up with the newly deads going to team up with tammy down and christian simon for that final newly deads album dead end

21:58so connecting the dots takes us even closer back to the faster pussycat universe through tammy down but not yet because now slim and mark diamond are going to team up with Chad Stewart again for a band called hollywood roses and they're going to release the album dope snake in 2007 this is another band that's totally sunset strip LA rock and roll but it's 2007 but it's a great album I got that one too I was like I didn't know he played on that open it up sure enough so I got all kinds of slim tender stuff

22:34in my library I had no idea become a big fan of this guy it's like this is great so now he officially joins faster pussycat he plays on the album power in the glory hole alongside tammy down christian simon and Chad Stewart and that's where slim tender is going to remain a member of faster pussycat to this very day so I mean what a cool rabbit hole to go down just because I see this one guy

Slim Tender Rabbit Hole

22:59who's funny the videos he releases on youtube when they're on tour crack me up he's loaded full of personality we got to meet him the last time they came through Tennessee he's a super sweet nice guy and he's a hell of a bass player and I go I want to be a fan of this guy I want to learn more about what he's done and then find out he's done all kinds of cool stuff so today I'm going to give you a taste this one goes back to the year 2000 off that album 666 pack this is the band motor christ

23:31featuring Chad Stewart mark diamond and slim tender along with ricky vodka and a tune called mark diamond for the top one and then find out is this one of the people of the people of the band in the gate which I know it is

24:05the band this one is He likes to drink and drive He takes his big car to kill Let him go to his favorite diet He knew what he wanted to do I, I, I Wanna be more tired I know you wanna be

24:38So do a lot with me You, you, you Wanna be more tired I know you wanna be So do a lot with me Drunken stone waiting for the fish

25:08That's what he likes to do He never treats anybody wrong He's what he'll ever do I, I, I Wanna be more tired I know you wanna be So do a lot with me So do a lot with me You, you, you You wanna be more tired Do a lot with me

25:38You, you, you Wanna be more tired I know you wanna be So do a lot with me guitar solo

26:14guitar solo

26:44I want to be Mark Diamond. I want to be Mark Diamond now too. I also couldn't help but think Ooh, Mark Diamond.

27:16I had no idea that Danny Nordahl had that musical history and had played with those bands. And like that early 2000s era of where everyone kind of went back to the beginning with, you know, gritty, garage-y rock and roll. You know, a lot of that stuff got swept under the rug, but there was a lot of damn good music being made. It just nobody got to hear it back then. Right. And now you listen to it and go, shit, I wish I'd have been listening to this when it was new. Oh, me for sure.

27:46You know, we maybe want to look at doing an interview with him. I bet he's got a million stories. I bet he does. That'd be awesome. I'd love to do it. Yeah, that Farm Rock show, him and Chad Stewart were in fine form that night. I think we all were. We all were. Yeah, we all had a very good time. I just remember you and me, Slim Tender, Chad Stewart, standing in the middle of the floor where everybody was just a little minute before they were watching bands.

28:17There's all kinds of people around us and the four of us are just standing there laughing our asses off, drunk as skunks and having an awesome time. My liver still hurts from that weekend.

28:28God, we definitely did the rock star life that weekend. That was fun. It's too bad the promoter was a total scumbag and ran off with tons of money from people. Yeah, because it was a good show otherwise. I think I heard he's in prison now. I think they called him. But no, that was a great, I think that was the show we met Toomey at, was that day. Yeah? Yeah, Farm Rock was when we first met Josh Toomey. I think you're right. Yep. And yeah, it was like, we just felt happy to be recognized. Shoot, yeah. Six degrees of Slim Tender.

29:00Well, yeah, and this is the only show you'll ever hear Slim Tender rabbit hole anywhere.

29:06That's a guarantee.

29:09All right, so another band that's no strangers to this show. I kind of picked some of my favorites today, but it's all new music guys and a band that kind of has, you know, kind of crossed our Decibel Geek ecosystem between us and Cobras and Fire so much so that, so I'm talking about Cro-Bot, so much so that Bako invented a thing called crow-botting where the band would pick him up and they would take a photo together. So that's Crow-Bot. Yeah, brilliant.

29:39But yeah, they released a new single on March 13th. I'm going to play it here in a minute. The next album, I think the album is also, it's called Supermoon. That just came out on May 1st, so you can actually hear the whole thing, and the whole thing is really good. Came out on Megaforce, so Megaforce still putting out good music. Right on. Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Rod Fenton. Recorded at Petimalis Recording Studio in Briarcliff, Texas in the Machine Shop in Dripping Springs, Texas.

30:10Brandon Yeagley, Chris Bishop, Dan Ryan, three guys producing a gigantic sound. This is Crow-Bot with Foot Off.

30:28We ain't going nowhere Bless your essence from your throat and your hair You've got me flipped all around I don't know my upside down Baby, I can't live in hell But I ain't been fooled like that yet

30:59To leave my heart I've heard the stars go I never have to go past But don't you dare take a foot of the gas I'm running, I'm running, I'm running, I'm running, dude Oh, shoot me up You'll run me high I can tell you who I am

31:31Not what I'm not Would it even make a difference? No, I've never been about the absence I'm all about balance Baby, I can't live in hell But I ain't been fooled like that yet Oh, at least I have I've found one of the stars

32:02Oh, I never like to go fast But don't you dare take your foot of the gas No Sometimes The universe Will give you Badness to follow Sometimes Sometimes The universe

32:35Will give you Up to climb Oh, just know Your love is fine You're way back home Way back home Yeah You're way back home

33:22You're way back home We'll be right back.

33:53We'll be right back.

34:23We'll be right back. We'll be right back.

35:23We'll be right back. We'll be right back.

36:23We'll be right back.

Crow-Bot Music

36:53We'll be right back. It's going to be like, you know, years later, it's freaking awesome.

37:29Like, this one might be even better than No Respect as far as the quality of songs on this thing. If you guys don't know about Vane, this is right in all our wheelhouses. It's hard rock with a great singer, awesome guitars, powerful drums, it's just killer. And I love Davey Vane's voice, and I love Davey Vane's voice, and his vibe, and his style, and his lack of shoes. His lack of shoes. Yeah, who needs shoes when you're Davey Vane? Check this one, and the tune called Vane, and the tune called Holdin' On.

38:11And the tune called Holdin' On. And the tune called Holdin'.

38:43And the tune called Holdin'. And the tune called Holdin'. And the tune called Holdin'. And the tune called Holdin'. Holdin' On. Holdin'.

39:15Holdin'. Now if you want me to love you, you better It's not a game you play when you're a winner, when you're a winner Now is it worth waiting for when you're a winner, when you're in love Love, baby love, love, baby love

39:46Got it in your head but you can't get it out Love, baby love, love, baby love Got it in your head but you can't get it out See the look of a grown-up woman in your mirror every night When all love's there, you're just a free time, take the flight Now if you want me to love you, you better show it down

40:18Now if you want me to love you, you better It's not a game you play when you're a winner, when you're a winner Now is it worth waiting for when you're a winner, when you're in love Love, baby love, love, baby love Got it in your head but you can't get it out Love, baby love, love, baby love

40:49Got it in your head but you can't Now all we need is a little love, I'll show you all the way You'll hear my voice, it's on your radio soon Outro music, it's on your head I keep my bedroom, I keep my bedroom, No wind I keep my bedroom, No wind Not for you at night

41:19It's not the way that you're playing you, when you're a winner, when you're a winner It's not the way that you play a game When you're a man, when you're a man Now it's still worth waiting for When you're a man, when you're a man Love, baby, love, love, baby, love Got it in your head but you can't get it out Love, baby, love, love, baby, love

41:52Got it in your head but you can't get it out Hold on I totally forgot about this record until you made this pick and I don't think I heard it since 1995. I had a friend that loved Vane and I heard it at their house and then they actually moved away and I remember looking at Sam Goody and Tower

42:24and other record stores to try to get it because I liked it so much and I never could find it. Wow. And I forgot all about it until you put it on your list today. Yeah, that's pretty cool. I'd never even heard it and I found it that day. I was like, I did. I was like, yes, holy shit. I can't believe it. I was so excited. I got back out to the car with my wife. I was like, look. Yeah. It's just like, okay.

42:52You know how we did the episode about where we kind of rewrote Kistory? You know, like if this had happened, maybe this would have happened. I would love to do an episode like that over rewriting history of the early 90s music scene and where it went. Yeah. So, like Enough's Enough and bands like Vain and Warrior Soul would have been leading the charge if grunge hadn't happened. Yeah. Mother Love Bone. Yeah. Mother Love Bone. But, like, I would, like, even leave Seattle completely out of the equation.

43:24And just, like, what if the bands from L.A. at that time were actually getting, you know, the mainstream backing and became the next big things? Like, how would things have played out? I think Vain would have been one of those bands that would have been embraced. Although, I will say, Davey Vain has a very love-it-or-hate-it voice. Yeah, I could see that. Because I know people that hate his voice. I like it because it fits. And this album in particular, this is more them, I think, than No Respect. The songwriting on this album is top-notch.

43:57Yes. Yeah.

43:59Yeah, it's really good. The whole thing. There ain't really a bad song on it. I listened to it all the way through, and then I let it roll through again. And then I put the whole thing on my iPod. Great pick today. I like it. Classic. All right, so we're going to go from classic to a brand-new band that we've been championing since their first album. Now, I will make mention of the second album. Don't worry. Oh, don't worry. Crown Lance from Canada.

44:29Love it. Or as Loose Cannon from Cobras and Fire says, Two Dudes, because it's two guys. Yeah. But no, I'm going to play their new single. You will like it, but I will say, because some of you listening are like, oh, God, Crown Lance. Because the first album sounded like a really cool Rush album. Yeah, I like that one. Yeah, and I think it was my album of the year that year. And then they put out... It was right up there. The what? I said it was right up there. Yeah, it was right up near the top.

44:59I think it was number one. Like, I actually, after that year, when that came out and you played that song on the end of the year show, I went out and bought the CD. Oh, cool. So, but then they put out a second album. I can't remember the name of it, but it was Phil. So, they really took the Rush thing seriously, because then they went in on 17, 19-minute songs. And they're like big, long, proggy explorations of music. And if you're into that thing, it's good. I am not one of those people.

45:30If a song's more than five minutes, it's already a minute too long, in my opinion. But now they're back with an album called Apocalypse that will be coming out on Inside Out Music. It actually comes out two days from when we record this, on May 15th. And it's called Apocalypse. And man, this first single is, this is what you want, if you love the first record. And it's produced by the band, David Buttril, who also worked with Tool, Muse, Godsmack,

46:04and then local producing legend here, Nick Rasculinics, who of course worked with Rush and Foo Fighters, tons of other bands, Ghost, lots of other bands. But yeah, Cody Bowles, Kevin Como, the only two members of this band. And they played a wide range of instrumentation on the album, including drums, vocals, guitar, bass, synths, mellotron, and flutes. So watch out, Jethro Tull. This is Crownland's new single. I think you're going to dig it. It's called Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star.

46:35Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star.

47:05Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Black Star. Goodbye And I can't face The might of This Hold it tight No fear It's slow But it's slow to slow down It's hard But its voice is Running down

47:35From the dust

47:48Is that the force of sin to care Is gone and fake us This search of a Our first ones Will bend the knee Before the Let's go Hold it tight Your spirit's soul When it's slow to slow down It's hard

48:18But its voice is Running down To the dust It's hard As the universe Behold With the voice That's burning It's hard Shining pieces Of its soul To the dust It's hard In the way The only air

48:54continous Thank you.

49:25Thank you.

49:55Thank you.

50:25Thank you.

50:55Yeah, everybody's like, no, no, that's too much. That's too much. And now I think they found the kind of the middle ground here. That's damn good. Yeah, it's a good rock song, but it has a little bit of the proggy elements that you would like from them. So I'm a fringe prog rock fan. I can't go all in. But if it's got leanings of it, I can still tolerate it. But no, I think that's going to be a great record this year. Yeah, it definitely rocks, man. I love it.

51:22All right.

Bako's Music

51:23So then from there, let's talk about the former front man of the band, Jesus Chrysler. You might know him better as the co-host of the Cobras and Fire podcast, and we know him and love him as a longtime supporter of the Decibel Geek podcast. Talk about our good friend, Bako. He recently released a five-song EP that he wrote, produced, played all the instruments on. He's one talented dude. You know, Bako and I may not agree on much outside of music, but I got to show him love as an artist and a creative.

51:56The fact that he's going to bring this whole thing to life without any help from anybody else, man, I find that extremely incredible. And I just want to share the fruits of his labor, because he's our friend, and you guys all deserve to hear it. So it's brand new, five-song EP. It's just called Bako, B-A-K-K-O. And the album's called Another Sign of the Decline. Here's a tune-off there I really dug. It's called Every Light in the House. When you were younger, you knew always what to say.

52:52Life came at an easy pace, but nothing in the way. But now a roadblock comes, you feel like a disgrace. Turn and run from anyone to a place where you feel safe. You like that when you fall, it echoes through the chamber hall. In your mind you feel so small, you like that you lost it all. You like that. You like it in your dreams.

53:23You'll repress reality. This is what it really seems. You like knowing here's the scream. You like that. Move around to find someone who will put you in your place. On attack, you won't hit back, no one listens anyway. Move around to find someone who will put you in your place.

53:59When you're down, you'll be fine with a smile on your face. You like that when you fall, it echoes through the chamber hall. In your mind you feel so small, you like that you lost it all. You like that. You like it in your dreams. You'll repress reality. Nothing's what it really seems. You like knowing here's the scream. You like that.

54:46Every light in the house is on, listen to your favorite song. Get along just to get along, you like being left alone. You like that. You like that. When you fall, it echoes through the chamber hall. In your mind you feel so small, you like that you lost it all. You like that.

55:17You like it in your dreams. You'll repress reality. Nothing's what it really seems. You like knowing here's the scream. You like that.

55:37You like that.

55:46I'm glad you played that this week. I was considering putting something from it on my list, too. So, yeah. Always happy to support Baco. It's not a Jesus Chrysler release, but we'll let that slide. Baco's a cool band name, honestly. Actually, it is. Yeah. But, no, I ordered the vinyl. I'm waiting to get it. And I've listened to several songs off of it. I've really enjoyed it. And I just, like you said, it's doing the whole thing yourself like that, playing all the instruments.

56:17That's hard work. And it can be very frustrating. And, like, he's been doing this a long time. So, I'm happy he got back in the game and released some new music. And, yeah. We'll put a link in the show notes, too. So, go on and buy it. Or you can stream it. Give him a like. You know, there's also a way to... There's different ways to support him. But I'll put all the pertinent links in the show notes. Right on. Yep. The whole EP is available on streaming. You can get the LP or the CD for your own collection at elasticstage.com.

56:50Yeah, between him and Phil Schaus, I've ordered two records from overseas this year.

56:56Oh, he's got them coming from overseas? I think his was also another one that I think is coming from the... Well, Phil's came from the UK. I can't remember where Baco's is coming from. But I think it was somewhere overseas. I got the, you know, we got your order email. But I think it was somewhere overseas. But, no, I ordered that. But you were talking earlier about Motocrist. I'm like, man, how cool would a Motocrist Jesus Chrysler tour be? You know? Oh, yeah. That would have been fun. Sell me a ticket. I'd go to that. But, yeah, stuff like that I'm excited for. But, yeah, I was just happy he put stuff out.

57:27I have a million song ideas in my head. And I sure as hell haven't had the motivation or focus to put them down myself. That's a goal for the future. But, yeah, good on you for doing it, Baco. Yeah, technology's there. If you're going to do it, you can do it now. You know, and not even have to leave the house. But you've still got to have the talent. You've got to have the songwriting skills. Baco's got all that. So I'm glad to see him using the talent, not letting it go to waste.

Rock and Wrestling

57:53All right.

Rock and Wrestling

57:53And next, for my next pick, a song that I've been itching to play on radio sucks since it came out several weeks ago. Rachel Bolin has put out a solo album. Well, I guess it's – well, the artist is called Bolin. I don't know how this works. But there's several guests. He recorded a lot of the instruments himself, just like Baco. And he's put out two singles off this. The album's going to be called Gargoyle of the Garden State, which is a great rock and roll title. Yeah, I like it. That's coming out on June 12th.

58:24So, Aaron, we picked a song that hasn't come out yet, or an album that hasn't come out yet. Okay, awesome. It's coming out on Ear Music, also produced by Nick Raskulinics. And he performs the majority of the instruments on this record. Also, guests on this album include Damon Johnson, Corey Taylor from Slipknot, Nuno Bettencourt, Steve Conti, who we all love from New York Dolls and Michael Monroe, Scotty Hill, Dave Sabo, and Rob Hammersmith from Skid Row are all on this record. And there's two singles released.

58:55Both are awesome. But when I saw the guests on this one, I knew which pick was going to be mine for the show. Rachel Bolin featuring Danko Jones, a great song called At War With Myself. My favorite song called At War With Myself.

59:36The years, this is o' the game. I'm at war, with myself again. I'm at war, with myself again. I'm at war with myself again I'm at war with myself again Dead pool of lonely users

1:00:06We meditate and losers Whoa, whoa, whoa My life is marlin' brando It's an insane go-go Whoa, whoa, whoa Somebody's scratching on my door I'll have my face down on the floor Tell me I'm at war with myself again

1:00:39I'm at war with myself again I'm at war with myself again I'm at war with myself again Somebody's living in my brain Somebody's living in my brain

1:01:21The forces in here are to play I'm at war with myself again I'm at war with myself again I'm at war with myself again I'm at war with myself again Whoa, whoa, whoa

1:01:52Whoa, whoa, whoa Whoa, whoa, whoa Whoa, whoa, whoa Just killer, man I'm really looking forward to hearing That whole thing What that ends up being It's cool Total Ramones vibe there

1:02:22And have you seen the video for the song? No It's great Because Danko's in the video And like every time Rachel looks into a mirror He sees Danko So Danko's playing his like His inner self That he's at war with And it's a funny video But Danko Jones makes everything better Anything he guests on Always elevates it So I think he's kind of He's like every hard rock musician's Favorite hard rock musician Yeah, if we re-scripted Rock and roll

1:02:53And the downfall of the hair bands Oh, he'd be giant Yeah, Danko Jones would be like One of the biggest artists on the planet If we had the script I think so And yeah, but And you know Rachel doesn't have to do this You know, he makes plenty of money Off his publishing with Skid Row Him and Dave never have to work Another day in their life But I just think it's cool That he put this together And I can't wait to hear The rest of the album Because the first two songs are great Yeah, they're both really good Yeah, and yeah He's doing some good stuff So, and yes Skid Row is looking for another singer

1:03:24If you haven't heard Man, maybe Rachel should just do it Do it himself He's a good punk singer Skid Row would have to change their vibe Yeah, change all the songs Into punk rock songs I always loved his version of psychotherapy Oh yeah, it's great On the Besides Ourselves EP Yeah No, I love Rachel Ball And he's awesome Yeah All right Rock and wrestling Wrestling and rock You guys know me

1:03:54This is my favorite of your picks today Is it? Yes All right These are two of my favorite things And I'll explain to you How this all comes to be I love how these two worlds Connect for me all the time And it happens a lot
